A Step-by-Step Guide to Community Bank Mergers and Acquisitions
The past five years have been a time of significant consolidation in the community banking industry. In the coming years, we will likely see a continued focus on merger activity among community banks. Regardless of an adopted strategy to remain independent, acquire or merge with another bank, or acquire a branch, fundamental to success is an understanding of the various steps and key considerations in any M&A transaction from both the buy and sell side.
This session will cover each of the ten material steps in a community bank M&A transaction, and will provide an overview and practical advice on key substantive considerations. Additionally, this session will discuss specific regulatory, accounting, and taxation issues associated with community bank M&A transactions.
